1. Betaab Valley 

Betaab Valley got its name after the popularity of Bollywood film Betaab (1983). It was earlier known as Hajan/Hagan Valley. Many trekkers, campers and folks seeking adventure visit this valley. The verdant meadows and scenic natural beauty of Betaab Valley is spellbinding. The dotted deodar, pine, walnut trees and mountain peaks sprinkled with snow accentuate the surroundings manifolds. You can rent the local Kashmir attire, wear it and get your photos clicked. It is located 15 km from Pahalgam in Anantnag district and can be reached from Srinagar via JKSRTC.

2. Lidder River 

The flow of rivers tells us to carry on, despite whatever boulders we may have in the path. Looking at the Lidder River, similar thoughts may erupt in your mind as well. This beautiful river plays an important role in maintaining and sustaining the ecosystem of Pahalgam. This mighty river has a length of 73 kilometers. Tourists who visit Lidder River most often come for an exhilarating rafting experience. While others enjoy trout fishing, camping, horse riding or trekking.

3. Chandanwari

Chandanwari is a spectacular valley located on the periphery of Pahalagam. It is also the first gateway to Amarnath cave, which is an important pilgrimage site. Chandanwari sits at an elevation of 2895 m above sea level. The famous pilgrimage:  Amarnath Yatra trek begins from this point. This sacred yatra or pilgrimage takes place in the month of June to August. And even in off pilgrimage season, this valley receives tourists and adventurers throughout the year. If you are looking for an offbeat place to explore in Kashmir, Chandanwari is your best bet.  It is a quaint and peaceful destination full of natural beauty and scenic wonders. If you want to see snowfall, visit Chandanwari between March and April. The months when spring & summer season arrive in Northern India, Kashmir’s Chandanwari is still covered in snow. 

How to reach Chandanwari?

No bus services or shared cab services are operated between Pahalgam and Chandanwari. You can reach here either via private vehicle or with a cab and that too with the local village cabs. 

4. Aru Valley 

Another beautiful place to visit in Pahalgam on your Kashmir trip 2025 is Aru Valley. This is an enchanting valley whose beauty must be experienced in person. Surrounded by the Himalayan highlands, this lush valley is a favourite camping spot for many trekkers. Besides trekking and camping, tourists also visit this valley for birdwatching and horseback riding. One can also go for wildlife spotting in the Aru Wildlife Sanctuary with a nominal fee of INR 25 per person. 

If you want to visit Aru Valley for an incredible sightseeing experience, visit in July to September. And if you’re an adventurer seeking the thrill of winter sports, plan your tour in the months of December to February. During this time the valley is blanketed in snow and perfect for ice-skiing, ice-skaiting, and sledging. 

5. Kolahoi Glacier

Kolahoi Glacier is a significant glacier and gives a lifeline to the entire Pahalgam valley. It is Kolahoi glacier whose ice melts and replenishes the Lidder River. The Kolahoi glacier sits 35 kilometres uphill from Pahalgam and to the west of Lidder river. The locals call Kalohi Glacier the “Goddess of Light”. This place is a popular trekking spot and many experienced trekking enthusiasts visit here. In fact, Kalohi Glacier trek is one of the most popular treks in Jammu and Kashmir. Most trekkers want to experience the trek to the hanging glacier which is approximately 5 kilometres long.

6. Tulian Lake 

Watch the aquamarine waters of Tulian lake surrounded by mountains from the three sides. While willows and wildflowers beautifully grow on the other side, spilling colours around the lake. Huge chunks of ice are seen floating in the waters of this lake, after all it’s surrounded by snow-capped mountains. This lake sits at an altitude of 3,684 metres. 

The landscape around Tulian lakes comprises stony terrain, dancing streams, and lush valleys. Trekkers often trek to Kolahoi Peak and Mount Harmukh from Tulian Lake. You can also bring along your binoculars or camera. Use them to capture views and shots of Himalayan bird species and animals thriving in their natural habitat. 

7. Love Pahalgam View Point

Although the entire Pahalgam is instagrammable. But if there is one place you should capture in your camera, it is the Love Pahalgam View Point. This offbeat stunning view point is situated just next to Lidder River. There are birds and squirrels around, along with calming nature and the sound of the flowing river.
